Me and My Big Fat Mouth

Have you ever said something before you thought about it, then instantly regretted it?
Yeah… I have and it's and "open mouth insert foot" moment.
We have had one crazy year with up and down emotions where our words have been fully charged, been disgruntled, perplexed, angry, hopeful, full of love, etc…
Doug has been talking about The Word within the series he’s doing leading up to Christmas on a morning web show he has in the morning.
I love Word Studies… I love the revelation I got when I was shown “The Word” and how it is all woven together and how much POWER is in THE word.
Out of the mouth of our Father all things were created, and when he says something about you in HIS word. There is POWER in ALL spoken word.
Genesis 1:1-8 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. 3) Then God said let there be light and there was light. And God say that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. God called the light day and the darkness night. And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day. Then God said let there be a ape between the waters to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth. And THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED. This phrase happens several more times throughout the verses pertaining to creation.
(Verses 9, 11, 15, and 24 )
God would speak life to create something or someone and "THAT IS WHAT HAPPENED."
When God Speaks… WHATEVER he has spoken to, THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS.
What word from God are you hanging on coming to pass? Unless YOU stop it, it will come to pass.
WAIT!!! How can we stop it? WITH OUR WORDS..
Us being created in the image of God have the ability according to Proverbs to create life and death.
PROVERBS 18: 21. Death and life are in the power of the Tongue and those who love and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.
The POWER of the tongue creates DEATH and LIFE.
In your own life, In the life of those with whom you come into contact. How many times do we aimlessly, carelessly, thoughtlessly say things? LOTS right? In John we learn that not only was Jesus man but he was also God and didn’t abandon that when he came. His words were never careless, never aimless, never thoughtless.
Why? Because inside him, was the power of death and life. NO one took his life….. he gave it up freely.
It is finished… Father into your hands I give my spirit.
John 1: 1-4 In the beginning, the word already existed, the word was with God, and the word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him and nothing was created except through him. The word gave life to everything that was created and this life brought light to everyone.
We know later that Jesus didn't use his words without intention or purpose
John 12: 49. I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it. I know his commands lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells me to say.
Lord… help us to do the same
We are designed to bring the truth to others. To give LIFE not death.
Funny and interesting.....It has been estimated that women speak 13,000 more words that men per day. That is by design.
Men are designed to be the head of the household. That is by design.
Ladies… it is no accident that we have more to say… ( we are the nurturers… the encouragers… we set the tone for the household). Men…It is by no accident that when mom has said it, it sometimes comes as a suggestion, but when you speak folks snap into action ( you are the head… because of that your words carry more weight). You don't need as many words because the ones you use daily have more weight.
Because of this.. we have to be mindful of what we are saying. Women can say more carelessly, or can impact more people because of it. Men, need to be even more thoughtful of what words they choose as they will "hit harder." than coming from someone else.
Nothing is more weighty and impactful than What God says. What God says gives LIFE, Comes to happen, does not return void, and is TRUE.. Words from God have NO choice but to obey whatever he speaks to do. Everything God has created and he created in you is by design. No mistake... all with intention.
When you find a truth in His word anchor yourself to it. Share it for others so that they can have the truth too.
So when we are shopping, at work, at the hospital, In our homes with our family, In our head!
Remember this. T.H.I.N.K. before you speak... ( Is it Truthful, Helpful, Inspirational, Necessary, Kind) If it’s not these things… hold your tongue. You don't have to flatter to try to be kind and please don't manipulate. Do, however, speak truth and grace.
In closing....As you have the opportunity to give LIFE, by speaking the TRUTH from God’s word over someone…do that. Encourage someone, acknowledge their efforts or compliment their character. Death and Life are in the power of the tongue.
