Friday Feature

Image
Our Friday Feature is from the beautiful Mindi Ducomb. I first met Mindy years ago in Zumbu class. She was sweet, friendly, and just a little on the quiet side. What drew me to her was her dedication to her weight loss journey. She knew what she wanted and she was unstoppable. She had a desire that was unquenchable and I admired her for it. I have watched her on this health journey throughout the years and have seen her conquere goal after goal. Her passion for life is contagious and her desire to help others is geniune. Please read her post, you will be inspired and challenged. When I was growing up, there was never ONE set thing I wanted to be. I wanted to be a marine scientist (accomplished), teacher, vet, nurse and initially set on doctor because I was told I was “smart” and so I figured that’s what I should do. I always knew I wanted to make my corner of the world a better place, but I just didn’t know HOW I wanted to do it. I never felt like I EXCELLED at one thing. I was prett

Frugal Fashion

This is a post that I shared a few years ago, I felt led to share it again. Frugal Fashion. I know it sounds like an oxymoron. A complete condradiction. It seems like something that only exist in Fairy Tale Land!!! How can you put those two words together? If you know me,  you know I love Fashion. I love all things Fashion!!! I love clothes,  shoes,  purses, scarves, jewelry and all the sparkly  accessories that go with it!!! But when you live on a tight budget you can not walk into a Department Store or in a Boutique and buy right off the racks. There is just no way. So how can a person love Fashion and still afford it? Here are a few guidelines I set up for myself way back during my broke, ramen noodles,  college days. These "rules for shopping" have helped me for years! I hope they can be a blessing to you as well. 1. Never pay full price for an item. To help myself follow this rule I pass up all of  the  racks and go  straight to the clearance racks.

Carrie's Story

Hello! My name is Carrie Hunt! I am 26 years old and live in New Albany where I was born and raised. I’m an assistant teacher at West Union Attendance Center and I’m currently pursuing my bachelors degree to become a certified teacher at Blue Mountain College. It’s true when God gives you a calling, you have to follow it! I really don’t discuss personal things on social media. If you ask me a question in person though, I’m very open and honest. In February this year, I was diagnosed with PCOS(Poly cystic ovarian syndrome). PCOS causes many issues for women, reproductive problems, endocrine problems, anxiety and depression.  I don’t let it define me, even on the days where I wish I didn’t have it and just want it gone. Although there is no cure, I choose to fight it, not let it fight me. One in ten million women in the U.S. have it! We are all fighters. I guess I feel the need to discuss it now because I understand it and what it entails. Like I said, I’m an open book. I’m open to discu

Falling in Love

Hi, y’all! I am so glad to have the opportunity to guest blog for Righteously Southern.  To tell you a little about myself, I grew up in a home where both of my parents exemplified Christian character. My dad was a missionary at one time and then became a pastor in Gulfport, Mississippi. My parents continually showed their love to each other and to their children (which I am one of four). Although I grew up in a Christian home with a wonderful love-filled environment, I lacked having a personal, consistent walk with Christ. I had seen the Lord answer prayers in my family, but I did not pray consistently enough to see God working every day in my life. I would like to share a few things that I have learned and that have helped me to grow in my relationship with the Lord. Let us pretend that at the mall in your town some big-named Hollywood stars will be arriving this week. The announcement is aired on the local news station, “Justin Beiber, Ian Somerhalder, and Zac Efron will be arri

Disconnect To Reconnect

Today's Friday Feature and first guest writer is all the way from Kansas City. And let me just say she might be living in Kansas City but her southern roots go deep. I first met this Southern Sister, Chrystan Ferrell, when we lived in Kansas City last year. I was invited to a Bible study she was hosting at her beautiful farmhouse. I was immediately drawn to her deep love for God, her zeal for life, and her desire to serve her family and others. She is an amazingly talented lady and she faithfully honors God with the gifts He has given her. She is a singer/songwriter, an author and blogger, she is a speaker and host for the Imperfectly Brave Conference. And if that wasn't enough, she just released her first Bible Study. I hope you will take a few minutes out of the hustle and bustle of your day to read this challenging and inspiring post. If you can't read it now, save it for later. Please, Please share this. It is wise, motivating and needed!!!! Enjoy... Disconnect To
